Thunder looks to upset the Lakers

Many people were sure that the Lakers would sweep the Thunder with no problem. But with the Thunder’s recent win to move the series to 2-1, many people’s assumptions have changed. Kevin Durant, who plays for the Thunder and is the Laker’s leading scorer, has recently found a new game plan. He has recently stopped trying to be the leading scorer and has just tried to play hard and let the points come to him. Durant’s new found game plan seems to be working too. However, the Lakers are planning to come back tonight with a vengeance. Kobe and Durant both plan on leading their teams to victory in game four tonight.

Bobcats Struggle in Their First Playoff Appearance

Today the Bobcats lost another game in the Orlando vs. Charlotte series. This is the third playoff game in a row that they have lost, and it puts the Bobcats down 3-0 in the series. At first, It looked pretty bad for Orlando as their leader, Dwight Howard, got into foul trouble quick. When Dwight Howard was actually in the game, Charlotte was usually double teaming him, which made it a tough game for him offensively. However, with Dwight Howard taken out of the game Jameer Nelson of the Magic stepped up dramatically. Nelson did very well on both sides of the ball and lead his team with a season high of 32 points. Even thought the Bobcats have been successful at shutting down Dwight Howard, other players, like Jameer Nelson, stepped up and lead the Orlando magic to a 90-86 win.

Dwight Howard’s defensive skills goes far beyond blocks and rebounds

For the second year in a row, Dwight Howard has been named the Kia Defensive Player of the Year. He also has lead the NBA in both rebounds and blocks once again. But his defensive player of the year award goes far beyond his blocks and rebounds. Even though Orlando is the top defensive team in the league, the other four players that start along side Dwight Howard, arent necessarily known for their defense. Now they arent necessarily terrible defensive players, but they have all come from terrible defensive teams before coming to Orlando. Besides leading the entire NBA in defense by himself, Dwight Howard also has the affect on his players to make them play better defensively. Whether it’s his leadership or the fact the other players are more willing to take risks bescuase they felt a security in having Howard to back them up, the stats show that platers stats go up when the play on a team with Howard.

Kobe Bryant is planning to miss the last two games.

Last week Kobe Bryant did not participate in the Lakers two games. This was because of he was trying to get better before the postseason came around. He has been having problems with his right knee and decided not to play to help the swelling go down. However, he was supposed to participate in the final two games of the regular season but has recently announced that he will not play in those games. This is due to a fractured finger he has recently suffered. Kobe has played through many injuries including back spasms and other fractured fingers before. So this recent injury is probably giving him a lot of trouble. The Lakers would also like to save him for the playoffs.

Duke’s personal musician is on his way to his own championship

Duke has finally won another championship game. Duke’s student body is happy, the team is definitely happy, and their own personal student musician finds himself with something to smile about as well. Mike Posner as a freshman was an aspiring musician that made beats in his dorm room. eventually he began writing songs to his own beats and very soon he was playing shows in local places. Now a graduated senior, the Duke team still supports their former classmate. in fact they even used his music as their warmup music. Even though Posner has much to be happy about with his school winning a championship game, he has also reently been signed to J records which has other artists such as Jaimie Fox, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys. When asked about how hes doing now Posner says he doesnt like talking about it because he comes across as cocky. Posner plans to return to attend the graduation ceremonies this year becuase he missed last years because of his new music career. The Former Duke student promises his music career will change the music game.

Duke wins national championship

Early on in the tournament, Duke was labeled as the worst 1 seed in the tournament. however recently they have upset the whole tournament. This year being one of the most unexpected tournament of all time, nobody knew what to expect as far as whol would win the championship. As it got closer and closer to the championship game, all the 1 seeded teams were being elminated. Everybody just assumed Duke would be eliminated as well. However Duke surpassed everyones expectations and continued to win. Eventually they became the only 1 seed, despite their label as the worst 1 seed. As it came time for the championship game everyone thought Butler would have a good chance of winning judging from their past games. However Butler could not pull off the upset and Duke became the champions after Butler missed the game winning shot by less than an inch.

Lakers in trouble as playoffs come around

The Lakers are scheduled to be the West’s top seed, but as of late they have not been playing like it. After their 109-92 loss to Atlanta, many people have began to question the Laker’s game. The Hawks were surprised how everyone on their team was scoring. Even Jason Collins nailed an 18 foot shot to score his sixth point of the season. While on the other side of the ball Fisher missed 5 out of 6 shots in the first half finishing it with 4 points. This is the worst the Lakers have looked in the last couple of years. With the playoffs coming around, the Lakers ned to make vast improvements in a hurry if they want a chance at a championship ring.

The Blue Devils look to get revenge on West Virginia

The Blue Devils being the last number one seed, are set to face off against WVU. Although the Blue Devils were said to be the worst of the 1 seeded team in the tournament, they are the only 1 seeded team that remains. The Blue Devils will go into this tournament with a chip on their shoulder as well, since in 2008, WVU beat them pretty bad and taunted them. WVU was beating Duke bad in the 2008 NCAA tournament. They commented after the game that Duke was an unimpressive opponent. They also slapped the floor in a “Duke-like” manner during the game. This should make for a good game this year as Duke still has some bitterness from years ago.

Rondo breaks the Steal record in a single season

Rondo from the Boston Celtics has recently broken the record for the most steals in a single season. he was tied with Rick Fox’s previous record of 167 steals in his 1996-97 season. Even though the steal record and Rondos success is believed to be a luck competition by many, Rondo seems happy with his newly broken record. In fact, many of his team mates tease him about also having the record for the most gambles and risks taken. However, team mate Garnett supported him by saying you dont break records by getting lucky. Rondo says ” the record might me more to me once i retire or am away from here. Im just focused on winning right now.”

West Virginia Makes the Final Four

In the game on March/27/2010, West Virgina upset the favorited Kentucky in the NCAA tournament, and they will advance to the final four. It is a pretty big deal in the basketball world, since West Virgina hasnt made it into the Final Four since 51 years ago. One of the main causes of Kentucky losing was becuase of their inability to make thier 3-point shots. in fact their free throw shooting was absolutely terrible. They were 4 for 32 from outside of the 3-point line. They started off at 0-20 from the 3-point line. Basically West Virginia did everything they were supposed to,while Kentucky did the opposite. despite the fact Kentucky missed nearly all of their 3-point shots, they made it a close game. After the win over Kentucky, West Virginia has become the favorite of many to win the whole tournament.
